Community Sing

Community Sing is a collaborative project that invites ad hoc performances from viewers acting within my installations.  Viewer/participants are invited to explore synaesthetic relationships between image, color and song by spontaneously sounding out my paintings using their voices and bodies as their instrument.  In the spirit of play and experimentation, together, we enter more fully into an aural response to my abstract paintings.

I video-tape these performances to determine whether certain shapes and colors solicit consistent responses in viewers.  These consistencies, or differences, may have cultural boundaries, or, they could be universally interpreted.
